Are you worried about wearing makeup for fear that your eyeliner, foundation, and lipstick will melt down with heat and sweat? We have all experienced such a situation at parties, workplace, or while running errands, where we leave the house all good and presentable but return back looking like Cinderella’s stepsisters. Here, are some of our researched tips on how to keep the makeup fresh and natural in summers.
Moisturizer is a necessity irrespective of the weather. It's the water to our skin. In summers it's best to use a water-based moisturizer to avoid adding to the sweating elements. Due to the heat, everyone likes to add minimal layers on the face so that it has the space to breathe. Hence, go for a tinted moisturizer or a good BB cream. It's better if it has SPF as well, further reducing the need to add another layer.
It is always advised to use SPF-rich products in summer. UV rays can damage skin beyond imagination. If your moisturizer or foundation does not come with SPF, we advise you to invest in a good SPF 30 or SPF 50 oil-free sunscreen to give your skin a much-needed layer of protection in summer.
Note: Sunscreen is recommended to be reapplied every 4-6 hours. But with makeup on it can be difficult to do. To make it easier for yourself, you can use a makeup sponge to apply the sunscreen or go for a compact SPF instead.
The golden step before makeup and after moisturizer is what primer is. They show their magic in the summer and really help to hold the makeup in place and don’t let it smug. Go for a mattifying primer for summers as they reduce skin's oil production. Primers should be used precisely according to age and skin type hence, we recommend you to do some research before you decide to buy one.
Rich shades sure have their own dramatic presence but summers are for making it all look natural. Apart from minimizing the layers of makeup, you would also want the makeup that you have applied to look as natural as possible. For both the lips and eyes go for sheer shades which compliment your skin tone.
Note: To avoid the lips from getting smudged use matching lip liner. Avoid eye creams instead use an eye primer to make the makeup last long.
Bronzers add warmth to the whole look plus a little shimmers to glow up. It can be a little confusing on how much to apply and where to apply. To help you with this, it is recommended to apply bronzers only at the high points of your face, where the sun hits directly like cheekbones, nose, chin, and forehead. For summers, the powder bronzers are best as they blend nicely. If you are wearing your hair up then you can put a little of it on your neck as well.
Summers are the ‘fun and playing part’ of the year, so don’t forget to play here and there with colors and looks. Makeup itself is an art, so be creative with it and don’t be afraid to try new things. Finally, we will end this blog with useful advice which is that if you are new to makeup, try to go for waterproof products in the beginning, as it will not smug while you work on your look.
